FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Saskatoon snow removal questions asked and answered.Saskatoon yard care questions asked and answered.

Price and sign-up

How much does yard care cost in Saskatoon?

Every yard is different, so we give you your own written price before we start.

How often do you come for yard care?

On a set schedule. You get your written price first, then we look after your yard.

How much does snow removal cost in Saskatoon?

It depends on your driveway size. The Monthly Snow Pass is $199.99 a month for a single driveway, $229.99 for a double and $249.99 for a triple. A Single Pass is $49.99, $59.99 or $64.99 a visit. Every plan includes your driveway, front walk and the city sidewalk in front of your house.

How do I know my driveway size?

Count how many cars fit side by side. One is a single, two is a double and three is a triple. We check an aerial view of your address and confirm your size and price by email before we start.

What if my driveway is bigger than a triple?

Tell us in the notes on the form and we'll send you a price.

Does the monthly price go up if it snows a lot?

No. Your monthly price stays the same no matter how many times it snows. A snowy month costs the same as a quiet one.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. You pay month to month. Cancel before your next month starts and you won't pay again.

Is there a contract for yard care?

No. You can cancel anytime.

How do I cancel?

Email skiptheshovels@gmail.com before your next month starts. There is no fee to cancel.

How do I cancel yard care?

Email skiptheshovels@gmail.com. There is no fee to cancel.

How do I sign up?

Fill out the short form on this page or email skiptheshovels@gmail.com. We confirm your spot by email within one business day.

Can I book just one visit?

Yes. The Single Pass starts at $49.99 a visit. Book by email and we'll confirm your visit time. It's good for light winters or when you're away.

The city sidewalk

Is the city sidewalk included?

Yes. Every snow plan covers your driveway, your front walk and the city sidewalk in front of your house at no extra cost. We don't clear steps.

Who has to clear the sidewalk in Saskatoon?

Residents do. The City of Saskatoon expects residents to clear the city sidewalks around their property within 48 hours after a snowfall.

What happens if my sidewalk isn't cleared?

The City investigates complaints and can issue a notice to clear it. If it still isn't clear when the inspector comes back, a contractor clears it and the cost goes on the property owner's tax roll. Repeat violations can bring tickets.

How does your plan help with the 48-hour rule?

When 2.5 cm falls, we finish within 24 hours after the snow stops. That leaves room before the City's 48 hours, though a pause for windchill colder than −40°C can take longer. Lighter snowfalls aren't part of the automatic plan, so clear those yourself or book a Single Pass.

I'm on a corner lot. Is the side sidewalk included?

Our plans include the sidewalk in front of your house. The City expects the side sidewalk cleared too, so tell us on the form and we'll give you a price for it.

Snow days

How much snow before you come?

2.5 cm (1 inch). On the monthly plan, we come on our own. You don't need to call.

How fast will my driveway be cleared?

Within 24 hours after the snow stops. In a long storm, we wait until it stops, so you get one clean clear instead of half a job.

What if it snows less than 2.5 cm?

On the monthly plan, we come once the snow reaches 2.5 cm. If you want a light snowfall cleared sooner, book a Single Pass from $49.99.

How often will you come?

Up to once every 24 hours. Every new 2.5 cm counts, and monthly customers pay nothing extra. If more snow falls after a visit, we clear it on our next visit once it reaches 2.5 cm.

Do I need to be home?

No. On the monthly plan, we come on our own when the snow reaches 2.5 cm.

Where do you put the snow?

On your property, not on the street.

Do you work in extreme cold?

Yes, down to a −40°C windchill. We warm up our machines and take short breaks to stay safe. When the windchill is colder than −40°C, we pause. We start again when it's warmer than −40°C, so your clear may take longer than 24 hours.

What if cars are parked in the driveway?

For a full clear, please move vehicles off the driveway when snow is in the forecast. If a vehicle is there when we arrive, we clear carefully around it. We never touch or move vehicles. Check City of Saskatoon parking bans before parking on the street.

Single Pass: $49.99 per visit for a single driveway, $59.99 for a double and $64.99 for a triple. We confirm your driveway size and price by email before we start. Service covers the driveway, front walk and the city sidewalk in front of the house; steps are not included. Larger driveways and side sidewalks on corner lots are priced separately.
