Saskatoon's city sidewalk rule
Residents are expected to clear the city sidewalks around their property within 48 hours after a snowfall. Every Skip the Shovels snow plan includes the one in front of your house.
What the City expects
The City of Saskatoon asks for a flat, wide path so everyone can travel safely, including people using wheelchairs and mobility aids.
What happens if it isn't cleared
- The City investigates sidewalk complaints.
- An inspector can issue a notice to clear it.
- If it still isn't clear at reinspection, a contractor clears it and the cost goes on the property owner's tax roll.
- Repeat violations can bring tickets.
How our plans help
When 2.5 cm falls, monthly customers get their driveway, front walk and front sidewalk cleared within 24 hours after the snow stops. That leaves room before the City's 48 hours.
Two limits to know: snowfalls under 2.5 cm aren't part of the automatic plan, and a pause for windchill colder than −40°C can take longer. You can clear light snow yourself or book a Single Pass.
Corner lots
The City expects the side sidewalk cleared too. Our plans include the sidewalk in front of your house, so tell us on the form and we'll give you a price for the side.
